Here is an example of how much can be said with what might be at first visual glance nothing. The minimalism in the piece is extremely beautiful, and the messages it conveys are among the heaviest of any drama. This contrast can be quite humorous at specific moments. I recommend watching this piece created by David O’Reilly from Ireland, in 2008. The digital cinematography in this piece is great, as I love the simple urban landscapes. Also the sound design is quite creative, which adds various semantic meanings to certain common beeps and sounds.
I found this short while looking at various short films that have been successful in film festivals, so that I may get a better understanding of what festivals expect from a short film. Currently I’m working on a script with a writer to produce a piece to submit to film festivals in late 2010, early 2011. We should be going into production this summer.
